The Story of the Owner

A kitchen carried across an ocean.

Rachna, originally from the state of Gujarat in India, has been passionate about cooking her entire life. From a very young age, she showed an interest in cooking by helping her mum in the kitchen and learning traditional recipes passed down through her family. With the dream of one day opening her own restaurant, she began trying out new recipes at home and cooking for her family. Her desire to cook for and introduce the traditional taste of India to others only grew over the years.

Twelve years ago, Rachna came to Phuket and it did not take long for her to share her traditional dishes with the community here. From home-cooked dinners to catering for events, she introduced the taste of traditional Indian dishes to the Phuket community. So now, with years of experience cooking and sharing her dishes with the local community, her dream has finally become a reality.

With the continued support from her friends and family, Rachna picked up the keys to her very first restaurant in November last year. Always with a smile on her face, Rachna will greet everybody with a welcoming hello and will work tirelessly to bring a truly authentic Indian dining experience at Turmeric.
